Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, improving many features from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It comes with larger displays: a 6.5-inch LTPO AMOLED cover screen and an 8-inch folding screen. The phone also offers a slimmer design and a powerful 200MP main camera. Unfortunately, it remains exclusive to South Korea, with a possible release in China. Rumors suggest it may not launch outside these two countries.
Qualcomm has introduced its new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which replaces the expected Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, it boosts CPU performance by 45% and improves power efficiency by 44%. Qualcomm has upgraded the Adreno GPU, providing 40% better graphics and ray tracing. The new Hexagon NPU also speeds up AI tasks by 45%, making them more efficient.
Xiaomi will be the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite in its upcoming 15 series. A Geekbench test showed the Xiaomi 15 performing well with this new chip. OnePlus 13 will also feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, launching on October 31 in Blue, Black, and White colors. An unboxing of the OnePlus 13 has already appeared online, revealing its design.
Huawei has launched HarmonyOS Next, a new operating system that does not rely on Android. It will power Huawei’s devices in China, with plans for a global release later. HarmonyOS Next will work across smartphones, wearables, smart home gadgets, and even cars. Huawei has released a public beta in China for the Pura 70 series, Huawei Pocket 2, and MatePad Pro 11 (2024).
