Free 120-Day PTA Mobile Registration for Visitors in Pakistan
Pakistan provides a complimentary 120-day temporary mobile phone registration for overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting the country. This exemption allows you to use your phone with a Pakistani SIM card without paying any PTA customs duty.
Eligibility Requirements
- Overseas Pakistanis with valid NICOP or Pakistani passport
- Foreign nationals with valid visa and passport
- Must have a recent entry stamp in passport
- One device per passport per visit
Registration Procedure
- Dial *8484# from your mobile device in Pakistan
- Enter your passport number when prompted
- Provide the IMEI number of your device (dial *#06# to find it)
- Submit your arrival and expected departure dates
- Confirmation is sent via SMS within 24 hours
Important Limitations
- Maximum duration is 120 days from your arrival date
- Only one device can be registered per passport
- Extension beyond 120 days requires full PTA tax payment
- The registration cannot be renewed - a new trip is required
- If you overstay, the phone gets blocked automatically
After 120 Days
Once the temporary registration expires, you must either pay the full PTA customs duty through the DIRBS portal, or the phone will be permanently blocked from all Pakistani mobile networks. Wi-Fi functionality will continue to work.
