Use Wi-Fi Only Mode
Any unregistered iPhone works perfectly on Wi-Fi networks. You retain access to iMessage, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and all internet-based communication without needing PTA registration.
120-Day Temporary Free Registration
Overseas Pakistanis and international visitors can register one device free for up to 120 days using their passport at dirbs.pta.gov.pk. This provides full SIM functionality during your stay.
Duty-Free Allowance for Returning Pakistanis
Since 2026, overseas Pakistanis returning home can bring one mobile phone completely duty-free per calendar year under Personal Baggage Rules. Simply register via passport within 30 days of arrival.
Purchase a Locally Sold iPhone
iPhones purchased from authorized Apple retailers or official distributors in Pakistan come pre-registered with PTA. No separate tax payment is required for locally sourced devices.
What Does Not Work
- There is no software hack to bypass PTA IMEI blocking
- VPNs do not affect PTA registration status
- Using foreign SIMs works only temporarily
- Dual-SIM workarounds do not circumvent DIRBS
