Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi 13 after a premature retail debut in Portugal a few days before its formal introduction. The new model distinguishes itself as the first in Xiaomi’s Redmi series to boast a 108MP main camera featuring the Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor. This 1/1.67” sensor utilizes 9-in-1 pixel binning technology and offers 3x in-sensor zoom, significantly enhancing photographic capabilities.
The Redmi 13 also upgrades its selfie camera to a 13MP sensor from the previous 8MP, marking another notable improvement in its camera technology suite. Battery performance has also seen a substantial upgrade, with the new model supporting 33W fast charging—almost doubling the 18W capability of last year’s Redmi 12. The battery maintains a capacity of 5,030mAh and can reach a full charge in just 62 minutes, a significant reduction from the two hours required by its predecessor.
Regarding the display, the Redmi 13 sports a large 6.79 LCD with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, similar to the Redmi 12, but with an enhanced peak brightness of 550 nits and DC dimming technology. The display is shielded by Gorilla Glass, though Xiaomi didn’t disclose the specific version.
Under the hood, the Redmi 13 is powered by the new Helio G91 chipset, an update over the previous Helio G88. The key enhancement is support for 108MP cameras, compared to the 64MP limit of the older chipset.
The device comes in multiple storage configurations: 6/128GB, 8/128GB, and 8/256GB, starting at an attractive price point of $180. In Europe, the base model is priced at €200, currently discounted to €170. It’s available in four colors: Midnight Black, Sandy Gold, Pearl Pink, and Ocean Blue.
Additional features include a microSD slot that supports up to 1TB of expansion, virtual RAM that can boost memory up to 16GB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. While slightly thicker and heavier than its predecessor, at 8.3mm and 205g, the Redmi 13 retains the same IP53 rating for dust and water resistance.
