Xiaomi continues to expand its diverse range of smartphones with the latest face-off between the Xiaomi Poco F6 and the Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro. These two closely matched models cater to different price segments. Despite their similarities, each offers distinct features that cater to varying consumer preferences.
The more affordable Poco X6 Pro is priced at approximately €100 less than its counterpart, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. However, the Poco F6 justifies its higher price tag with superior features in several key areas.
Both models boast a similar design, including nearly identical dimensions and weight, differing by mere millimetres and grams. Each sports a 6.67-inch OLED display with identical resolutions, refresh rates, and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Despite the Poco F6’s claims of higher peak brightness for HDR content, both displays perform comparably in everyday conditions, with brightness levels reaching up to 1,200 nits.
The durability of the Poco F6 stands out with its IP64 ingress protection and Gorilla Glass Victus, offering an edge over the X6 Pro’s IP54 rating and older Gorilla Glass 5. Additionally, the Poco F6 features more premium materials, including an option for vegan leather, enhancing its aesthetic and tactile appeal.
Performance-wise, the F6 takes the lead with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, slightly outperforming the Dimensity 8200 chip in the X6 Pro according to benchmarks. This makes the F6 a better choice for gaming and intensive applications. However, for everyday tasks, the X6 Pro’s chipset is more than sufficient and offers better energy efficiency, as reflected in its superior battery performance.
The camera setups on both phones are comparable, but the F6 edges out with a more modern main sensor and slightly better post-processing capabilities, providing enhanced photo quality, especially in ultrawide shots. Video recording also shows a marginal superiority in the F6, with more natural colours and dynamic range.
Regarding sound, the Poco F6 also leads with a superior speaker system that delivers fuller and richer audio compared to the X6 Pro. While both models share the same battery capacity and similar charging technologies, the F6 charges slightly faster, completing its cycle just minutes ahead of the X6 Pro.
Despite the close competition, the Poco F6 demonstrates why it commands a higher price, offering enhancements in build quality, performance, and multimedia capabilities. The X6 Pro, while slightly lagging in these aspects, still stands as a solid choice for those looking for a robust smartphone experience at a more accessible price point.
As Xiaomi continues to innovate within the Poco lineup, consumers can anticipate continued improvements and new features, promising exciting developments in future iterations.
