Xiaomi has recently introduced its first clamshell foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Flip, at an eagerly awaited event. Initially, there was no news about its international availability, but it has now been confirmed that the device will be sold outside China. A Xiaomi representative announced that the Mix Flip would first launch in five Central and Eastern European countries, costing around €1,300 or $1,400.
The Mix Flip is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and has a 4-inch cover display. Inside, it features a 6.86-inch OLED screen with an impressive brightness of up to 3,000 nits and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. The design also includes a screen that wraps around the two 50 MP cameras on the back. The main camera has PDAF and OIS, while the telephoto lens offers 2x optical zoom and PDAF, perfect for portrait photos. Although the Mix Flip comes in three memory configurations, the specific versions for international markets haven’t been disclosed yet.
The Mix Flip felt light and comfortable to hold in a brief hands-on session. The device has a mostly flat frame with smooth edges, avoiding sharp corners. The hinge is noteworthy because it can stay in positions between 45 and 135 degrees, and it closes with a satisfying snap at 180 degrees with no gap. While our initial hands-on time was short, we now have a review unit and will soon provide a detailed review to see if the Mix Flip is the foldable phone to watch this year.
