According to rumors, the world’s most widely used instant messaging program, WhatsApp, is developing a feature to add an edit button to messages transmitted to desktop devices and will do so soon.
Before WhatsApp, the same company’s social network Facebook and photo-sharing app Instagram both included the option of an edit button, and most recently, Twitter stated that it would soon follow suit.
It hasn’t happened yet, despite reports from a few months ago that WhatsApp was developing an edit button and will likely release it shortly. However, the most recent information in this regard is that the firm is developing a feature to include the edit button for desktop users in addition to Android and iOS.
The professionals working on the application are reportedly hard at work bringing an edit option for desktop users, according to wabetainfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates.
According to the article, WhatsApp users who use desktop, computer, or laptop versions of the app would likely be the first to have access to the edit option.
The report claims that it is yet unknown if users can view the edit history after selecting the edit option and how long users will be allowed to change the message. The report clarified that it is still too soon to predict when the edit button will be available, but it clarified that WhatsApp experts are hard at developing the edit button.
The report also suggested that a limited rollout of the edit button to users of desktop and mobile phones would take place simultaneously.
