Recent reports from China indicate that Apple’s next iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max could have improved charging features. These new models will support 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe wireless charging. This is an upgrade from the current iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, which offer up to 27W wired and 15W wireless charging.
These faster charging rates are the maximum possible and might not be constant throughout the charging process. However, they could potentially make charging quicker and enhance the overall experience. It’s still unclear exactly how much faster these new iPhones will charge.
The reason for increasing the charging speed seems to be that these iPhones will have bigger batteries. Apple wants to make sure that even with larger batteries, the new iPhones can charge as fast as the older models. Last year, rumours already hinted at these improvements for the iPhone 16 Pro models, including using new battery technology for larger battery sizes and longer life.
Apple plans to reveal the iPhone 16 series in September, along with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. While these details are still based on rumours, if they’re true, they show Apple is slowly enhancing its charging technology, though it still isn’t as fast as some other brands.
