After a month of anticipation, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF has launched its first smartphone. Now, the spotlight returns to the main brand with the announcement of a new version of its mid-range phone, set to be released on July 31. The upcoming model named the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus, is described as Plus. More. Extra. While the description is vague, it’s clear this will be an upgrade to the existing Nothing Phone (2a).
A teaser image for the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus hints at new features. The photo shows grooves reminiscent of the wireless charging coil on the flagship Nothing Phone (2), suggesting the new model might include wireless charging—a feature the current 2a lacks. The current Nothing Phone (2a) was unveiled in March but hasn’t seen much activity since, apart from a new Blue color option released in April. The 2a is not yet available in the US, only being offered as part of the Developer Program. Wider availability would be a welcome improvement for the new Plus model.
The next major release, the Nothing Phone (3), is slated for 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus as its release date approaches.
