Samsung is gearing up for its highly anticipated July Unpacked event, expected to take place in Paris. At this event, the tech giant will unveil the latest additions to its smartwatch lineup: the Galaxy Watch7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The event will introduce these new models and confirm the renaming of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which was briefly referred to as the Galaxy Watch X.
The Galaxy Watch7 will be available in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm, aligning with a strategy similar to Apple’s smartwatch offerings. This model will feature two colour options, green and cream, and boasts a robust design with an Armor Aluminum 2 case and sapphire crystal glass, typically found in high-end watches. The device is designed to withstand the elements, with a 5ATM water ingress rating, alongside IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certifications.
Spec-wise, the 40mm version will house a 300 mAh battery, while the 44mm will sport a 425 mAh battery—both capacities mirroring those found in last year’s Galaxy Watch6. Notably, the Watch7 will feature a chipset manufactured on an advanced 3nm process, a significant upgrade from the 5nm chip in the Watch6, and will offer 32GB of storage and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra, positioned as a direct competitor to Apple’s Watch Ultra 2, will be available exclusively in a 47mm titanium case with three color variants: gray, beige, and silver. It will be 10ATM depth rated and also meet IP58 and MIL-STD-810H standards. The Ultra model will maintain a 590 mAh battery, similar to last year’s Galaxy Watch5 Pro, and include the same 3nm SoC and 32GB of storage as the Watch7, but with an increased peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The Ultra will exclusively feature LTE connectivity, enhancing its appeal for users seeking constant connectivity.
With these upcoming releases, Samsung continues to push the boundaries of smartwatch technology, directly challenging competitors with significant upgrades in durability, performance, and design.
