Social media messaging application Twitter has announced the removal of all inactive accounts.
Twitter’s owner Elon Musk announced in a tweet that ‘we are removing all those accounts that have shown no tweets or activity for many years.’ Addressing the users, he said, ‘removing such accounts from the platform may reduce the number of your followers’.
Removal Of All Inactive Accounts
Elon Musk did not specify in his tweet when the process of removing inactive accounts from Twitter would begin. According to Twitter’s policy, users are required to log into their Twitter account at least once every 30 days.
Remember, last month, the blue tick was removed from the profiles of thousands of Twitter users, including celebrities, journalists, and politicians. After buying Twitter in October 2022, Elon Musk deemed the free blue tick program corrupt and made the process of verifying an account conditional on a monthly fee. This means that if you have a blue tick in your Twitter account and want to keep it after April 20, you will have to pay.
The Twitter Blue subscription is different for each country. For American Apple or Android users, the monthly subscription is $11 and the annual subscription is $114.99, while for web users, the monthly subscription is $8 and the annual subscription is $84.
In Pakistan, the Twitter Blue subscription fee has been set differently for mobile, desktop, and Apple users. For desktop users in Pakistan, the monthly fee is set at Rs. 2,250, for Android mobile phone users it’s Rs. 3,100 monthly, and for Apple users, the monthly fee is up to Rs. 4,000.
