According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the country has already exported over 120,000 mobile phones made in Pakistan in just one year, and this number is only expected to rise.
The PTA has published a statement claiming that locally manufactured mobile phones have been exported to several African nations.
The exported mobile phones were reportedly made by Pakistani firm Inovi telecom and marketed in the UAE as the ‘Sego’ brand, per the company’s official statement.
According to the investigation findings, the company Inovi, which had its beginnings as recently as April 2021, was responsible for exporting a total of one hundred twenty thousand mobile phones over one year.
Nevertheless, the statement did not make clear whether or not all of the mobile devices that the corporation shipped overseas were mobile phones or handsets.
In April of last year, after receiving permission from the PTA, Inovi telecom began operations to produce foreign mobile brands locally.
Indeed, Inovi Telecom isn’t the only local manufacturer of mobile phones; other companies do so, and both Inovi Telecom and local competitors sell their products throughout the country.
Mobile phones with 4G technology are manufactured locally, alongside 2G technology; nevertheless, the basic components are imported.
